The New England Patriots are facing a significant choice because they possess the No. 3 overall selection in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.

When their turn comes, New England can make several decisions, but the likeliest scenario involves selecting a quarterback.

Having traded Mac Jones to the Jacksonville Jaguars and acquiring Jacoby Brissett in free agency, the Patriots are in need of a long-term solution at the quarterback position.

While Brissett serves as a valuable bridge quarterback, the team requires a permanent answer for the role.

New head coach Jerod Mayo is tasked with reviving the offense, and drafting the right player could help achieve that objective.

There’s a chance that New England might opt to trade down for more picks to bolster their team, but indications suggest that team owner Robert Kraft is determined to secure a new quarterback, according to Albert Breer from The MMQB.

“If you trade down, you lose the certainty that you’re gonna get the quarterback you want and I do think ownership wants a quarterback here,” Breer stated.

Several teams are expected to be interested in trading up during the draft if the Patriots are willing, but Breer suggested that New England is content to wait and choose from the available quarterbacks.

With Caleb Williams probably already selected by then, New England may find Jayden Daniels or Drake Maye available when their turn arrives.

Both prospects offer significant potential and could be instrumental in getting the Patriots back on course.
