Prime Video caused a stir with its first-ever Upfront event by unveiling the official preview trailer for Amazon Original Series Cross and also confirming the renewal of the series for a subsequent season.

Take a peek at the initial glance below:

Cross is defined as a “intricate, twisted, heart-pounding thriller” based on the personas from James Patterson’s most popular Alex Cross book series.

If you’ve missed out, Alex Cross (previously depicted by Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry) is an investigator and forensic psychologist with a distinctive ability to delve into the minds of murderers and their victims in order to pinpoint—and ultimately apprehend—the culprits, according to the press release.

Ongoing panty-sizzler Aldis Hodge takes on the role of the renowned crime-solver alongside Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Jennifer Wigmore, Eloise Mumford, and Ryan Eggold.

“Bringing one of James Patterson’s most iconic literary characters to life for our global Prime Video customers was a dream come true, and we can’t wait for everyone to see Aldis Hodge’s dynamic performance as Cross,” stated Vernon Sanders, Head of Television at Amazon MGM Studios.

“Ben Watkins and his team have crafted something distinctive within the crime-thriller category that fans, both old and new, will appreciate. With over thirty novels by Patterson featuring Alex Cross as the central figure, the decision to bring Cross back for another season was an obvious one.”

Wes Chatham, Matthew Lillard, and Jeanine Mason will be part of the Season 2 cast, with Johnny Ray Gill joining as a regular.

Ben Watkins, Creator/Showrunner of Cross, expressed, “I am thrilled to be commencing another part of Cross. Instances like these are not mere coincidences,

“Receiving a Season 2 renewal before the release of our first season is a substantial acknowledgment and vote of confidence in the remarkable work that our crew, cast, directors, writers, and production team have delivered thus far.

It is also a direct outcome of the constant support given to us by Prime Video and our collaborative partners at Paramount TV Studios, Skydance, and James Patterson Entertainment. I am thankful for all the support and eagerly anticipate coming back bigger and better.”
